SQL Server 2008 setup fails with a Microsoft .NET Framework exception

You may receive an error MSG while installing SQL server 2008 for your SCCM 2012 installation. The  error  MSG is similar to ” Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit the application will close immediately.”

“An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for userSettings/Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.LandingPage.Properties.Settings: Could not load file or assembly…… The system cannot find the file specified (C:\users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation\Landingpafe.exe…..”

 

Solution:

Rename or delete Microsoft_Corporation folder under

C:\users\Administrator\AppData\Local\

 

Re-start the SQL 2008 installation. This time it should continue the installation without any errors.
