Sometimes “Welcome to the task sequence wizard” will give
task sequence failed with error code 0x80070057 msg before even start checking
the computer policies.
Reviewing SMSTS.log (Under
X:\windows\Temp\SMSTSLog\) will show;
MP Location
returned an empty site code
RequestMPLocation
failed; 0x80004005
GetMPLocation
failed; 0x80004005
Failed to query
for MP location
Typically the error msg indicates an issue with the site hierarchy
configuration (site assignments and boundaries) and the client machines cannot
reach the SCCM management point.
Make sure a valid site code is assigned and correct boundary
is created.
