Operating System deployment fails with “An error occurred while retrieving policy for this computer (0x80004005). For more information, please contact your system administrator or helpdesk operator”.
The above error msg will show after booting from a boot media/USB drive and after clicking on Next tab on Welcome to task sequence wizard.
The SMSTS.log will show following errors;
Failed to open PXE registry key. Not a PXE boot
Failed to find the source drive where WinPE was booted from
reply has no message header marker
Failed to get client identity (80004005)
Failed to read client identity (Code 0x80004005)
Cause for the error is (not limited to); Expired boot image certificate or bad ISO file or bad boot device.
To fix this issue, re-create the boot media, create a USB drive as bootable and extract the boot ISO media to the bootable iso drive.
